In Sub-Sahara Africa, over 600 million people live without power, and on the flip side there is enough potential in wind, hydro and solar energy. The government, AfDB, the World Bank, Power Africa, (US government initiative by President Barack Obama in 2013) is working on financing electrification projects. There are seminars and electricity forums, with prominent investors and electricity providers on the benefits of continuous and regular supply of electricity.
There is need for improved financing, political stability, increased investment and proper pricing mechanisms in this sector. There are regulations and policies to facilitate the entrance of investors, to add to the existing grid and also produce power from other sources.
